  • STORY: Warwick Estate lies in the heart of the Stellenbosch wine district at the foot of the Simonsberg. It was recreated on historic ground by Stan and Norma Ratcliffe in 1964. Warwick Estate owes its rise to one of South Africa's leading wineries to its co-owner Norma Ratcliffe, who has become famous as the "First Lady of Cape viticulture". Born in Canada, she was not only one of the first women to work as a winemaker, but was also self-taught.

  • AGEING: The Warwick Estate "The First Lady" matures for 15 months in French oak barrels.

  • AROMA: Complex aromas of elderberry and currant, fine nuances of herbs, mocha, lavender and liquorice

  • RATING: A full body with velvety soft tannins unfolds on the palate. Memorable departure.

  • SERVING RECOMMENDATION: With pasta dishes with spicy sauces, grilled poultry, roasted meat and cheese

With the wine line "The First Lady", Norma's son Mike has erected a monument to his famous mother. The sparkling Sauvignon Blanc, to be drunk young, impresses with its sparkling acidity and aromas of tropical fruits - the perfect summer wine, whether for relaxing on the terrace with friends or as an accompaniment to fish or seafood dishes!
