Sekt is the official name in Germany and Austria for a sparkling wine with an alcohol content of at least 10 vol. %. Sparkling wine is a refinement stage of wine through alcoholic fermentation. Sparkling wine may only be sold in a glass bottle that has a mushroom-shaped cap. When opening a sparkling wine bottle, the excess pressure should be allowed to escape gently. This creates a sound called an "angel's fart". On the other hand, if you pop the cork, which is considered inelegant nowadays, supersonic effects can occur at times.
