In 1935, the brilliant and far-sighted businessman Gaetano Marzotto founded the Santa Margherita winery, named after his wife Margherita, who died young. He consistently relied on quality-oriented wine production from traditional grape varieties with modern cellar technology on newly developed soils in Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige. Santa Margherita was the first winery to vinify the reddish Pinot Grigio grapes as a pure white wine. The Marzotto family still manages the fortunes of the business today and stands for demanding and reliable top quality throughout the vintages.
