Like Jannie, Jean had a life before viticulture. While the father was a South African rugby idol before acquiring the winery in 1978, the son spent years flying around the world as a jumbo pilot for South African Airways. However, the passion for wine is in both their blood. And so together they made Rust en Vrede what it is today: a winery acclaimed by wine critics from all over the world.
