Cantine Paolini was originally founded to better protect the rights of individual winegrowers from trade and to secure their income. Rather, small sailing boats used to be used in Sicily to transport the grapes from the vineyard to the cellar during the harvest. They sailed on small canals built around the vineyards. Because the bow of these boats looked like the tip of a lance, they were called "Lance" in the Marsala region. There are also two boat tips on the label of the "Lance" wines and even today the grapes are brought to the press with the help of boats, only today there are no longer sailing boats.
