STORY: In 1970 the first vintage of a Mas la Plana was pressed. Torres had planted the first vines since 1966 in the individual vineyard of the same name. When the final cuvée was to be determined, the Cabernet Sauvignon showed such outstanding quality compared to traditional varieties such as Tempranillo or Garnacha that Torres chose it as the main vine for his wine - a highly unusual decision at the time and long before the international Cabernet boom.

VINIFICATION: The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the individual Mas La Plana vineyard are harvested from September, taken immediately to the winery, strictly sorted and de-stemmed, gently crushed and mashed.
AROMA: intense, multi-layered bouquet, in which aromas typical of the location and grape variety (truffle, preserved red and black berries, cherries, jam) merge with the fine toasted and spicy notes of the oak wood maturity (toast, coffee, vanilla).
-
ASSESSMENT: fleshy, supple, full-bodied on the palate, the tannins are dense, present, yet gently integrated into spicy-sweet aromas of ripe dark berries and dark chocolate with a hint of gingerbread spices and liquorice, powerful, concentrated, very elegant with lush fullness and a long aftertaste of dark chocolate, roasted bread and coffee
SERVING RECOMMENDATION: elegant accompaniment to tender lamb or beef fillet, braised leg of lamb, breast of ox, roast veal or fine game dishes with porcini mushrooms
