STORY: When we visit Uli Metzger at his winery, we can be sure: we will eat well, drink well, sleep well and at least take his new wine home with us for our range. This time we had two in our luggage. The drops, cut exclusively for us, are real fillet pieces from Uli's best locations with its oldest vines.

With a cultivation area of 18 hectares and sales of 150,000 to 160,000 bottles a year, the Metzger winery is one of the larger family-run wineries in the Palatinate. Uli Metzger's ancestors were farmers who ran fields and ranched animals. Father Volker then concentrated on viticulture. But that's not all: if a winegrower has bottled a good wine, he has successfully completed his compulsory portion. But after duty comes freestyle, and now more than ever that means looking good. The Palatinate Uli Metzger from Grünstadt an der Weinstraße masters the compulsory part with flying colors and the freestyle with an ingenious trick. With a lot of self-mockery and a deeper meaning, he "scrambled" his family name and made the cow his heraldic animal. So much creativity immediately piqued our interest. We wanted him to produce a wine that offered fabulous quality, was reasonably priced and was fun. His "splendid" bottled especially for us is perfectly tailored to these wishes. A lively rosé specialty with intense notes of melon, sweet cherries and some apple compote. Serve your customers something fresh from the butcher!
