STORY: The Mainova winery is located in southern Portugal, in the sparsely populated Alentejano region. Mainova is a very young project, founded in 2019, which, in addition to viticulture, is also dedicated to the production of excellent olive oils.
-
VINIFICATION: After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house to be sorted and carefully crushed. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, the cuvée is aged in French oak barrels for 8 months.
-
RATING: Brilliant ruby red with violet reflections. Intense bouquet with lots of fruit, ripe sweet cherries, violets, dark berries, some menthol. Soft and round on the palate with good freshness, balanced, fine tannin structure and a slightly peppery note. Good presence on the finish, again with lots of fruit.

SERVING RECOMMENDATION : Wonderful with grilled red meat, fried fish and spicy pasta and pizza .

SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16 °C
The relatively young Mainova winemaking team was only founded in 2019 by José Luís Monteiro and his family. Father and mother have placed the responsibility for this in the hands of their youngest daughter Bárbara, hence the name: Mainova means “the baby of the family” in Portuguese. The likeable and committed young woman and a young team take care of the sustainable care of the 20 hectares of their own vineyards. Sustainability plays a major role at Mainova, chemical additives are used to a limited extent and the rules of organic farming are adapted to the circumstances where necessary, always in accordance with organic guidelines.
