• STORY: Founded in 1776, Champagne Louis Roederer has been owned by the same family since 1819. Today the company is one of the last major champagne houses to remain independent. Louis Roederer has an exceptionally large number of vineyards in Champagne.

• VINIFICATION: Champagne: A 1927 law limits the Champagne growing area to around 30,000 hectares in the hills of Marne. 17 communes of Champagne are classified as Grand Cru and 44 as Premier Cru. Champagne is the coolest wine-growing region in France and is subject to the moderate influence of the Atlantic climate. The region is known for its chalk soil.

• RATING: Glossy golden yellow, fine, dynamic perlage. The bouquet reveals a palette of ripe, delicate fruits, including yellow fruits (mirabelle plums) of the Pinot Noir and sweet citrus fruits (Tarte au Citron) and delicate notes of white flowers (jasmine) of the Chardonnay, complemented by smoky and pastry notes. On the palate: A lively, beautiful structure is evident with balanced and harmonious notes accompanied by salty nuances.

• SERVING RECOMMENDATION: The wine is perfect as an accompaniment to vegetable pots with pesto, cabbage roulades or pasta with sausage dumplings.
