One thing we knew for sure: our Pays d'Ocs should not be run-of-the-mill wines. They should neither taste nor look average. We wanted something special. Wines with a personal, typically southern French note. So we went in search of a partner who would supply us with these wines.
After a series of rehearsals, not far from Montpellier, we met the Vignerons de la Vicomte. When we sat down together, it quickly became clear that we had found our partner. Cellar master Jan Meilhac was on our wavelength. And, more importantly, he had a series of varietal wines in the cellar that matched what we had in mind with amazing precision.
"In the south of France we love life. We enjoy daydreaming, spending it with nice people and enjoying what the country has given us," Jean enthused about his homeland and explained to us that he considers the wines that have the little pig (whoever plays boules knows that this is also the name of the wooden target ball) on the label to be the quintessential taste of this attitude towards life.
