  • STORY: Produced by the Cellier des Princes, the only cooperative in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The grapes come from vineyards bordering the area of the famous AOC Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The stone-interspersed soil (in French 'La Rocaille') ensures that the heat stored in the pebbles is constantly released to the grapes at night.

  • VINIFICATION: After selective hand-picking, the grapes are fermented for 5 weeks in wooden fuders, then gently pressed and then matured in oak barrels for 12 months.

  • AROMA: uncomplicated Côtes-du-Rhône, juicy and cool in its way.

  • RATING: Red berries and liquorice alternate on the palate. Present fruit lines, highlighted with fine traces of acid, dominate and make it an everyday pleasure.

  • SERVING RECOMMENDATION: with all kinds of meat dishes, ratatouille and outdoor picnics. In the summer also cool in the cellar!

Produced by the Cellier des Princes, the only cooperative in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The grapes come from vineyards bordering the area of the famous AOC Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The stone-interspersed soil (in French 'La Rocaille') ensures that the heat stored in the pebbles is constantly released to the grapes at night. The result is physiologically ripe grapes, which, however, thanks to the mistral that prevails there and the relatively cool nights, do not produce a lush, overloaded wine, but rather a rather fine, refreshing and juicy drop, as here. "The wine is named after the stony soil (Rocaille means gravel) on which the young Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre vines grow. In the well-balanced mixture of the varieties, this simple Côtes du Rhône offers a charming but never obtrusive fruit package with notes of red berries and liquorice. In addition to the complex aroma, the mild acidity stands out, which allows the wine to remain supple. It can be enjoyed alone and with rustic dishes, for example with salami pizza or grilled lamb chops.” (Dieter Braatz, in DER FEINSCHMECKER).
