- EVALUATION: The specific smoky flavor and distinctive bright red color are the hallmarks of La Chinata Pimenton de la Vera.
-
RECOMMENDATION: Tastes great with chorizo, tapas, hearty soups, chickpeas, dips and meat dishes.
The name La Chinata is the popular expression for Malpartida de Plasencia, the birthplace of the company's founder, Florentino Oliva. Today, La Chinata is synonymous with the finest Spanish paprika powder in the distinctive red metal can, which originally may only come from the sun-drenched region of Extremadura. La Chinata is a delicate paprika from La Vera. The region of the same name is located north of Cáceres at the foot of the Sierra de Gredos.
The noble product is valued for its soft, warm, subtly sweet and fruity aroma combined with an elegantly tart note and a subtle spiciness. This is due to the special manufacturing process in which the dried peppers are smoked over oak wood for a long time. The specific smoky flavor and the no less striking bright red color are the hallmarks of La Chinata Pimenton de la Vera.
