STORY: The thermal region has always enjoyed an excellent reputation. Everyone who was self-respecting in Austria enjoyed Zierfandler or Rotgipfler from the beautiful region around Baden - regardless of whether they were bishops, archdukes, actors or royal couples. When Queen Elizabeth married Prince Phillip in 1947, Gumpoldskirchner wine was served to the wedding guests. The Reinisch family keeps this independent wine culture alive with a lot of passion.
-
AGEING: The fermentation of the wines takes place separately and with regard to fruitiness and fine enamel. After blending, the wine is aged in barrels for 4 months.
AROMA: White wine with a lively play of fruit aromas in the fragrance with nuances of mango and apricot.
-
RATING: Vital and yet a little baroque on the palate with pleasantly supportive fruit sweetness.
SERVING RECOMMENDATION: Goes well with classics of Viennese cuisine such as veal escalope and fried chicken, with hearty snack dishes and even with Asian creations.
The thermal region has always enjoyed an excellent reputation. She cultivates a wide range of grape varieties on the gravelly alluvial soils and gives special place to the autochthonous grape varieties Zierfandler and Rotgipfler. Not found anywhere else in the world, both varieties offer a special piece of regional identity. For Johannes, Christian and Michael Reinisch, this is both a pleasure and an obligation: to produce wines that depict a piece of home and should please those who live with and for wine. Their collection includes full-bodied and fresh wines as well as multi-layered and finesse-rich creations. Critics praise the high performance density of both regional specialties and both international grape varieties. The gourmet counts Johanneshof Reinisch among the best producers in the country and certifies that the Pinot varieties in particular have "taken a direct leap into the champions league of world viticulture".
