- STORY: Truffles were coveted even in ancient times, even the pharaoh Cheops is said to have loved them dearly. The truffle is an underground fungus that grows on the roots of deciduous trees such as oak, linden and poplar. Here the truffle can absorb water, nutrients and mineral salts.
- EVALUATION: The most precious truffles and those used by Giuliano Tartufi are: the white truffle, with a scent of cheese and garlic, the black noble truffle (also called Perigord truffle), which has a less intense scent but very delicate taste, the whitish truffle or bianchetto truffle, with a penetrating scent and taste, and the summer truffle, with a very delicate scent and a taste of porcini mushrooms.
- SERVING RECOMMENDATION: Tastes great with rice, pasta and salads. A teaspoon of oil per person, raw when the dish is ready. Pour the sauces directly under the hot pasta or rice.
In the small town of Pietralunga in Umbria, Giuliano Martinelli's passion for truffles gave rise to an entire range. Giuliano Tartufi is his life's work. There is hardly anyone on this planet who puts as much time, energy and passion into truffles as he does. Giuliano Martinelli is an absolute truffle lover and uses the ancient knowledge of the culinary treat that has been passed down through the generations. Ever since his childhood and adolescence, he would go out with his dog every morning, roaming the Umbrian forests before he had to go to the factory for his shift. Finding underground truffles is not so easy, because they only grow in a few places where a multitude of conditions come together and which are protected from interventions that could endanger the delicacies. In 1991 he finally became self-employed and got the attention he deserved with his creations at truffle and delicatessen fairs. Only 10 years later, Guiliano finally founded his company Giuliano Tartufi Srl. and has been enchanting truffle lovers all over the world with its exquisite products ever since.
