  • STORY: Between holm oaks and cypresses in the midst of untouched nature, the Minervois region offers everything you need to produce great southern French wines.

  • VINIFICATION: The vineyards face south on the natural terraces of the river Livinière. They are characterized by compact limestone and sand, stony marl and planted with Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan. The climate is unusually sunny, tempered only by cooling winds blowing down from the Causse, which encourages even grape ripening.

  • AROMA: Ripe aromas of cherries and black berries accompanied by toasted notes and Mediterranean herbs.

  • EVALUATION: Powerful and elegant on the palate with ripe, integrated tannins and a complex finish.

  • SERVING RECOMMENDATION: With pan-fried meat dishes, but also with grilled dishes and pan-fried game.

Between holm oaks and cypresses in the midst of unspoilt nature, the Minervois region has everything you need to produce great wines from the south of France. A highly modern winery was built in the former Saint-Joseph brickworks from the 19th century. On the slopes of the "Petit Causse" Jean-Michel created an estate of a total of 150 hectares, of which 60 hectares are planted with vines and 25 hectares with olive trees. Together with his son Jean Charles, he chose a name for the new winery that should be understood as a symbol: L'Ostal. In the old southern French language Langue doc, l'ostal means "house", but also the family. The vineyards face south on the natural terraces of the river Livinière. Characterized by compact limestone and sand, stony marl and planted with Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan. The climate is unusually sunny, tempered only by cooling winds blowing down from the Causse, which encourages even grape ripening. From the bosom of this natural treasure, Jean-Michel presses finely structured, fruity and typically herbal wines that offer great pleasure for comparatively little money.
