  • STORY: Since the 2009 vintage, Crocus Malbec from Cahors has been a successful partnership between the internationally renowned winemaker and Malbec specialist Paul Hobbs and Bertrand Vigouroux, whose family has been producing wine in Cahors since 1860.

  • VINIFICATION: After the selective harvest, the grapes are gently pressed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 22 days. 3 days of cold maceration and regular pumping over and pushing down of the pomace cake. Subsequent aging for 18 months in 50% new French oak.

  • AROMA: This intense Malbec with its deep purple color presents aromas of red cherry, blueberry, rose petals, ripe plum, black liquorice and a blend of spices on the nose.

  • EVALUATION: This very concentrated, strong wine is supported on the palate with notes of black cherry, red plum, milk chocolate, talc, butterscotch, star anise and fine tannins.

  • SERVING RECOMMENDATION: With game dishes, cured red meat and aged cheese.

If you talk about Malbec, the name Paul Hobbs inevitably comes up. Thanks to his groundbreaking work for the Argentinian top estate Vina Cobos, the long-forgotten grape variety is on everyone's lips again. Just the right man to make Malbec sexy again in France. At least that's what Bertrand Vigouroux thought, whose family in Cahors, southern France, has been cultivating the legacy of the noble vine for over 150 years. It didn't take long for Paul to convince Paul to go to the home of the Malbec to finish what he had started at the end of the world. Crocus Malbec from Cahors has been a successful partnership since the 2009 vintage between the internationally renowned winemaker and Malbec specialist Paul Hobbs and Bertrand Vigouroux, whose family has been producing wine in Cahors since 1860. Crocus is the name of a very common flower around the Lot river that flows through Cahors. The coat of the Crocus Le Calcifère Malbec comes in a purple color that is well worth seeing. Its scent impresses with an aroma package consisting of many plums, cherries, blueberries, liquorice and spices. In terms of taste, it convinces with the fruit of the nose. The fine tannin structure is evident on the edge. Delicious, concentrated and powerful wine!
