In addition to researching the most modern winemaking methods, the Bujanda family impresses with another hobby horse: the preservation of old, autochthonous Rioja grape varieties such as Graciano or Maturana. They do this with a passion that demands due respect. Especially since they manage to vinify really excellent wines from even the most capricious grapes. But there is a lot of hard work behind the success. The manual harvest is so rigorous that you can count yourself lucky when the bins are full in the evening. Great importance is attached to choosing the right micro-plot, because the DOCa Rioja offers incredible treasures in special individual locations. The harvest of the day is checked again on selection tables so that only flawless berries find their way into the mash tuns. After the subsequent fermentation, the wines are placed in oak wood for many months, depending on the grape variety. The result is expressive, unconventional and strictly limited treasures with carefully worked out varietal characteristics, which reflect the diverse terroir of the Rioja in an exemplary manner and are likely to surprise and inspire even experienced Spain connoisseurs.
