STORY: Castel Firmian only produces grapes from its own vineyards, which lie along the Adige Valley at the foot of the Dolomites.
-
EXPANSION: After the harvest, the grapes are destemmed and mashed with regular pumping over. The mash is then fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, after which the wine ages in oak barrels for some time.
-
JUDGEMENT: In the glass, this wine shimmers in a deep ruby red. The nose reveals notes of mint and sour cherries. A full-bodied, dense wine with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry, which delights with a pleasant length and fruity fullness in the finale.
-
SERVING RECOMMENDATION : An excellent accompaniment to stir-fries, lasagne or mature cheeses.
-
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-18 °C
The residence of Count Firmian lies at the foot of Monte di Mezzocorona. From here you can not only see the Alps, but also the vineyards of the Piana Rotaliana. The wines of Castel Firmian have found their home in the Rotaliana plateau, which is called the most beautiful vineyard in Europe. The Castel Firmian was built in 1480 and is a symbol of the Cantina Mezzacorona wine line of the same name. The wines from Castel Firmian bring the whole diversity of Trentino into the glass, an impressive landscape with a very long wine-growing tradition: characterized by high mountains, terraced areas, right down to the Lake Garda plain. Each wine stands for a specific grape variety, a unique terroir, a special microclimate. Many autochthonous and international grape varieties find ideal conditions here, their 'best' place and later present themselves as excellent, typical representatives of their kind with a fresh but strong character and great balance. The range includes varietal wines, characterized by elegance, freshness and a great accessibility
