  • STORY: Casa Ferreirinha is now one of the absolute top producers in the Douro Valley. The first dry red wine of the Douro Valley was produced by this house. Ferreirinha means 'little Ferreira' and refers to the great-granddaughter of the company's founder, who tirelessly brought the Port Wine House Ferreira to the top.

  • VINIFICATION: The Douro Valley is one of the oldest legally defined wine-growing regions in the world. The borders were already defined in 1756. For more than two centuries, only port wine was produced, table wines were only made in larger quantities from 1979. In the past, the best grapes were always used for port wine. Today, some estates give priority to table wine. Planalto is considered THE wine in Portuguese gastronomy and it is impossible to imagine life without it.

  • AROMA: Fruity fullness on the palate with lots of smoothness and creaminess.

  • EVALUATION: Ripe yellow fruit on the nose; Passion fruit and some banana. Balanced, restrained acidity; long and harmonious finish.

  • SERVING RECOMMENDATION: classic with bacalao (dried cod), fish with beurre blanc or other cream/butter sauces, poultry dishes, Asian dishes
