• STORY: The company Angostura goes back to Dr. Johann Gottlieb Benjamin Siegert (1796-1870), a doctor who, after four years of research and work, finally developed a herbal liqueur in 1824 - initially intended as a medicine against tropical diseases. This contains (or may contain) cinchona, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, bitter orange and gentian root.

• JUDGEMENT: In terms of taste, the Angostura Dark 7 Years is particularly sweet and the aromas of vanilla, chocolate and toffee result in a pleasant mixture that will flatter the palate

The Angostura company takes its name from Dr. Johann Gottlieb Benjamin Siegert (1796-1870), a doctor who, after four years of research and work, finally developed a herbal liqueur in 1824 - initially intended as a medicine against tropical diseases. This contains (or may contain) cinchona, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, bitter orange and gentian root. With an alcohol content of 44.7 percent alcohol volume, the general Angostura bitters - and at the same time the Angostura Carribean Dark 7 Years - is not only used for pure enjoyment, but also and especially for flavoring genever, vodka and gin (as well as for flavoring sauces and desserts). The latter was also the reason why this product in particular was not banned during the US alcohol prohibition period.
