STORY: A. Diehl Spirits – A burning passion. The success of our sun-drenched wines from A. Diehl speaks for itself. But Andreas Diehl is also an excellent master distiller. The trigger for the decision to try distilling was an old copper still - a gift from a friend who was a winemaker and didn't quite know what to do with his heirloom.
-
AGING: Maceration of Palatinate sweet chestnuts in alcohol. The sweet chestnut has been native to the Palatinate since Roman times and, like grapes, needs a warm autumn to ripen.
-
AROMA: Warm, earthy, caramel-like notes interplay with coffee, marzipan and milk chocolate.
-
RATING: Nutty and ripe on the palate
-
SERVING RECOMMENDATION: Solo or as an aperitif with Prosecco; hot with cream or as a shot in coffee
A.Diehl Spirits - A burning passion. The success of our sun-drenched wines from A. Diehl speaks for itself. But Andreas Diehl is also an excellent master distiller. The trigger for the decision to try distilling was an old copper still - a gift from a friend who was a winemaker and didn't quite know what to do with his heirloom. Grandfather Diehl's old distillery book was quickly pulled out and the route to be taken was clear: to penetrate as deeply as possible to the specific aroma of each fruit, to exhaust it and to return it as a refined, perfect essence. Under this credo, Andreas brings out true taste wonders from rare and hand-picked fruits such as apricots, mirabelle plums or chestnuts with great craftsmanship and sensitivity. “Careful firing takes a lot of time and patience. But also a lot of love and the desire to tackle something new”, Andreas literally burns for his unique products and does not regret for a second that he took the old copper bladder with him.
