Sangria is a refreshing mixed wine drink. In Spain and Portugal, the term sangria is protected by law. Like a punch, sangria is made up of red wine and fruit, typically citrus. Mineral water, sparkling wine or spirits can be added, but this distorts the original character of the sangria.
For a Sangria Blanca (Clarea) a white wine or a cava (sparkling wine) is used instead of a red wine.
