Peter Gago, Penfold's chief oenologist: born in England, raised in Australia, Peter Gago studied math and chemistry, put the oenologist on top at Roseworthy College (as the best of the year) and started his meteoric career at Penfolds in 1989. After fizz and red wine, Gago took over responsibility for all wines in 2002, succeeding John Duval as Penfold's chief oenologist. He is only the fourth cellar master since Max Schubert and keeper of the world-famous Grange. More than any of his predecessors, Gago tours the world, presents penfolds and always likes to see what other winemakers are up to.
